Training, Updates and Inspections
This section provides a summary of how to provide training to employees, managing site inspections and updating the company when changes are made to your lock-out and/or tag-out systems within the organization.
Training, Inspections and Updates
All employers are required by law to review their safety policies on an annual basis. This review includes all policies and procedures that are associated with your company's Energy Control Program and includes the following:
- A review between the inspector or Health and Safety Officer with each authorized employee to cover the worker responsibilities that are associated with the Energy Control Program.
- Training of all new employees that will be involved with lock-outs or tag outs.
- Retraining of all energy control personnel if it is found that the understanding level of the energy control procedures is in adequate.
- Training or retraining all supervisors and Health and Safety Committee members on all energy control policies and procedures.
Retraining must also be conducted when:
- There is a change in your job function.
- There is a change in company policies or procedures.
- New machinery is installed.
- There is a change in the process, or when new hazards are introduced.
- There are changes to Federal, Provincial, State, or Municipal Regulations.
