Lock Out/Tag Out

Course Overview

This comprehensive course equips organizations with essential training on proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. It prepares workers to safely perform maintenance, repairs, cleaning, inspection, or refitting of industrial equipment, machinery, and fixtures.


Why is this important?

Recent statistics reveal that every 10 minutes, two workers are killed, and approximately 170 suffer severe or disabling injuries due to workplace accidents. Many of these incidents are preventable with proper training and adherence to lockout/tagout protocols.


Duration: 4 hours of on-site training and instruction.

The following topics are included in this training program:


  1. What is a lockout/tagout procedure and why must this program be followed?
  2. Why do lockout/tagout accidents happen?
  3. What is the difference between lockout and tagout?
  4. When and where lockout/tagout procedures must be used.
  5. How to do a pre-shift inspection?
  6. What are the lock out/tag out procedures?
  7. What are the proper communications?
  8. What are the proper preparations before beginning a repair?
  9. What to do once work is complete?


Note: The participants will also learn about the potential dangers when working with industrial equipment as well as their responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
